IAAF - 70 nations to compete at world cross
26 Mar 2008 00:00

A total of 70 Member Federations of the IAAF have made final entries to compete at this weekend's 36th IAAF World Cross Country Championships, Edinburgh, Scotland (30 March 2008).
The world's best distance runners will assemble in Holyrood Park, in the Scottish capital on Sunday afternoon to do battle in four races - senior men and women, and junior men and women - part of the course for which tackles the steep incline and decent of Haggis Knowe whose slopes dominate this year's World Cross Country venue. With a support programme which includes a Distance Running Seminar on Friday evening (28), a Home Countries Cross Country International (a race between Scotland, England, Northern Ireland and Wales first contested at Hamilton Park Race Course in Scotland in 1903) contested on Saturday afternoon (29), and a 'Welcome the World' 5K mass participation road race on Sunday morning (30), Edinburgh is set to witness a global festival of distance running this weekend.
